Built for shooters who demand the absolute best, the Barnes Reserve line sets a new standard of precision and performance for Barnes enthusiasts. Each round is handloaded by our ballistic lab experts using ultra-premium components and is purpose-built for niche and hard-to-find hunting cartridges. Every load is carefully selected and rigorously tested to achieve the lowest standard deviations and match-grade tolerances available today. Barnes Reserve stands as the ultimate benchmark for performance—available exclusively through our website, direct-to-consumer.

This product is a 300 Winchester Short Mag (300 WSM) loaded with Barnes' .308" 212gr Borerider LRX. This configuration has been nicknamed 300 "Super" WSM by our friends at Vortex Nation™.

The 30 cal 212gr BoreRider is a unique LRX product which offers an innovative design that reduces drag (increases BC), increases case capacity, and reduces bearing surface. Please pay special attention to the following details before ordering:
  • Requires a 1:8 twist or faster! Most 300 WSM rifles are 1:10. Check what is stamped on your barrel
  • Requires an extended mag box, single feeding, or a custom setup.
    • Cartridge overall length is 3.475". This will not fit in short-action magazines
    • Many users attach a "two round holder" to their rifles and single feed
    • Another option is to use an extended mag box
    • Some enthusiasts have built custom long-action rifles to feed this round. The long-action configuration allows for magazine feeding due to the increased magazine and action length vs a short-action.

This is a bore rider bullet design. Only a short section of full .3080" diameter remains seated in the case neck. Forward of this, the bullet transitions to bore diameter, which aligns it precisely with the rifle bore—even before firing. This alignment reduces yaw and improves concentricity for enhanced accuracy.

Because the nose begins at bore diameter, it doesn’t engrave into the rifling. This allows for a highly secant ogive profile, which optimizes aerodynamics and minimizes drag.

With only a short section at full diameter, TSX grooves are unnecessary, further improving flight efficiency. The solid copper construction and streamlined profile combine to deliver exceptional ballistic performance.

Every design choice in this bullet—starting from its bore rider construction to the secant ogive nose and the omission of TSX grooves—works in concert to maximize aerodynamic efficiency. By minimizing surface disruption, improving bore alignment, and streamlining the nose profile, Barnes has engineered its highest BC LRX bullet to date. The result is a long-range projectile that maintains velocity and resists drag better than any other in the lineup.
